Item Description
This specimen features a predominant, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, red-orange color modified crystal group of Sphalerite measuring 1.3 cm across on micro Quartz on matrix. There are a few accenting Sphlaerites on the piece as well. When the Sphalerite crystals are backlit, the color they exhibit is pretty good and truly doesn't look quite like Sphalerite from any other mine in the world. The best of these specimens are beautiful, especially considering it's a transparent sulfide! There aren't many localities producing gem quality Sphalerite. Specimens from Shizhuyuan are becoming more and more difficult to find these days. I remember that these were some of the first Sphalerites to come out of China a little over 10 years ago, and the color is amazing. Enjoy.
