Item Description
Splendent, jet-black twinned sphalerite crystals cover all sides of this striking, highly sculptural, large boot-shaped specimen from this classic old lead, zinc, barium mine. Strikingly, the crystals on one side are much larger, up to 1.5 cm, than those on the other side. Interesting chemistry of this artistic and rare 360-degree rib. The specimen was collected from the Admiralty Flats in January, 1995. It is illustrated in the MINDAT locality Photo Gallery with an April, 2008 photo by Dr. Stephen Moreton. RARE and excellent large two-generation sphalerite from the locale.
