Item Description
The famed Elmwood Mine in northern Tennessee is a large zinc deposit in that was discovered in 1969. In the ensuing years, this mine has produced some of the most iconic minerals from any US locality. Honestly there are only about a dozen species found at this mine, but several of them are signature examples, and iconic among collectors. This piece is a nice small cabinet featuring a group of sharp, lustrous, dark reddish-brown "ruby jack" Sphalerite crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm across, aesthetically sitting on sculptural micro Quartz-coated matrix. The piece is in fine condition, with no major damage that I can find, and it displays quite nicely from a few angles.
Ex Les Presmyk / De Natura specimen.
