Item Description

Absolutely splendent jet-black luster on the sculptural, dense, 3-dimensional small cabinet of intergrown sphalerite crystals from one of the historic polymetallic mines of Maramureș County, Romania. The twinned crystals, to about 1.3 cm, are beautifully accented with striated faces. Probably from either the Herja Mine or Cavnic. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection No. 1. The luster on these sphalerites is dramatically impressive for Maramures County.
