Item Description
Sphaerocobaltite is VERY rare cobalt carbonate sometimes confused with more common species like cobaltian calcite. This sculptural, vuggy specimen is composed of vivid neon-pink, bladed botyroids with moderate luster and sugary sparkle. This excellent and rare example is probably from the Musonoi Mine and not the Shinkolobwe District, as stated on the Larry Krause label (which is old, and there was confusion about the identity of these when they came out in the 1970s), as Spherocobaltite is not noted in MINDAT for Shinkolobwe. Overall, just a VERY pretty specimen, of a very rare species of cobalt mineral. Valued $400
