Item Description
Two, gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red, spessartine garnets aesthetically flank each other on this dramatic and excellent, CABINET, combination specimen from Shengus. The pristine large spessartine on the left is 3.3 x 3.2 cm. The striking, vertical "books" of pearlescent, star muscovite sculpturally divide the specimen and matrix of large, sharp, blocky, albite crystals. Glassy, flattened quartz crystals are noted on either side of the muscovite stars and there is a 8.1 x 1.7 cm schorl embedded in the contacted matrix on the back. The presentation face of the right-hand spessartine is pristine, with the side being contacted, but barely noticeable. The artistic composition of this imposing large specimen is outstanding, with the very well-placed large, spesartines, the dramatic dividing muscovites and the opposing angles of the large, blocky albite crystals. This choice, large combination specimen is in super shape, overall. Fairly valued at $2000.
