Spessartine, Schorl, Quartz and Aquamarine

Shengus is known for these large, complexly surfaced spessartine garnet crystals with fascinating patterning. However, you rarely see them on and in association with tourmaline (in this case a schorl, a black tourmaline). Here, we also have a small gem aquamarine and others present, as well; and so the garnet is associated with both tourmaline AND beryl! This is a really rare association that is fascinating to see in an aesthetic display specimen. The piece is a fine cluster, held together by quartz crystals in the middle, all sitting on a perch of feldspar. It is complete all around, save for a minor contact spot on the schorl (a slight depression where another garnet must once have sat). Built over 30 years of collecting Afghani and Pakistani minerals AS THEY CAME OUT and were contemporary, the Meieran collection features a large selection of this kind of rare combination specimen.
