Item Description
The classic old Spessartine Garnets from Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia are iconic for their excellent dodecahedral form with smooth lustrous faces, and rich red color. Typically the crystals aren't much larger than 2 cm, but this piece hosts a larger-than-average crystal measuring 2.5 cm, with reflective euhedral faces, along with some smaller Spessartine crystals, sitting on dark grey Galena. The piece is in good shape, but there are some areas of incomplete/interrupted growth here and there, so it's not completely pristine. Still an impressive example of these beloved Garnets from one of the world's great mineral localities. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
