Spessartine on Albite - ex Obodda

A razor-sharp, 2.1 cm, wine-red, trapezohedral Spessartine Garnet is perched nicely on a snow-white Albite crystal that makes for a fine miniature. The crystal is glassy and slightly translucent that also show the wine-red color as internal reflections as well which makes the Garnet glow even with ambient lighting. The white Albite crystal makes for perfect contrast and the Albite crystal also shows small, black, randomly oriented needles of Schorl Tourmaline on its surface in places. Both the Spessartine and the Albite are contacted on the backside where it was removed from the pegmatite pocket wall. This is an excellent miniature from this well-known locale. It sits nicely on its thin acrylic base for display and is formerly from Herb Obodda's collection
