High glassy luster and deep red color highlights this very large spessartine from the famous Broken Hill deposit. Partially translucent/gemmy, the textbook dodecahedron glows with areas of yellow-orange to cherry-red to reddish-brown, when backlit! Spessartine ranks second to rhodonite as the most attractive silicate from this renowned deposit. Galena is embedded in the sides and base.
