Item Description
High glassy luster and deep red color highlights this very large spessartine from the famous Broken Hill deposit. Partially translucent/gemmy, the textbook dodecahedron glows with areas of yellow-orange to cherry-red to reddish-brown, when backlit! Spessartine ranks second to rhodonite as the most attractive silicate from this renowned deposit. Galena is embedded in the sides and base. Most of the periphery wear and basal contacting are out-of-sight in the many fine possible display views. A significant, very large and excellent example of the species and locale. Valued $1500-1800
