Item Description

The recent discovery (early 2000's til today on and off) of these highly etched but completely terminated, floater, spessartine garnets created quite a splash, and you can see why. The sculptural aesthetics, luster and clarity are superb, which are complemented by the lovely deep cherry-red color. It is safe to say these have become very sought-after, and this is an excellent example of this recent find. It is even better in person. The stepped patterns on this particular piece are amazing, just like a cherry-red, Mayan pyramid or an M.C. Escher print! The backlit photo really highlights the beautiful wine-red color saturation and gemmyness. An excellent quality spessartine from this find and VERY RARE, with the quartz crystal cluster associaton. That association makes this a stand-out thumbnail example of the find. Valued $250-300
