Spessartine Garnet w/ Hyalite Opal (fluorescent)

Three colorful generations of sharp spessartine garnet trapezohedrons are peppered on the contrasting undulating feldspar matrix plate on this showy and rich example from this well-known locale. Large lustrous, deep wine-red prisms, to 1.0 cm, are scattered among smaller gemmy pretty cherry-red crystals and tiny gemmy orange crystals. Scattered small smoky quartz points are a typical and fine accessory to this excellent specimen from the Wushan Mine. SW UV light reveals a RARE fine surprise. Much of the matrix is covered with clear hyalite opal that turns neon-green under UV light!
