Item Description

This is the ONLY specimen we've ever had to offer from this ancient zinc deposit, which according to mindat.org was discovered in 1643, and was mined into the early 20th century. This piece features several rather lustrous, sharp, well-formed dodecahedral crystals of dark orange-red Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 5 mm across associated with dark grey Galena and a bit of white Calcite. Several of the crystals are in very good shape and look good under magnification. A rare locality specimen for any fan of Garnets or old European classic locales.
From the collection of Colin Manlove.
