Spessartine Garnet on Smoky Quartz (ex Brooks Britt Collection)

These gorgeous specimens are some of the most attractive and highly displayable pieces to come out in China in the last 20 years. This is a good quality small cabinet sized specimen and features dozens of sharp, gemmy, lustrous, bright orange color, textbook trapezohedral crystals of Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 4 mm which are sitting on sharp, prismatic, hexagonal Smoky Quartz crystals. If you look closely, you'll see that the base of the Smoky Quartz crystals is actually terminated (re-crystallized / "re-healed"), so the piece is doubly-terminated, though not a complete floater due to a few points of damage. It's important to note that the Garnets are brilliant, sharp and smooth, with no pitting or dull faces anywhere. Garnet is a well known mineral, but you have to keep in mind that it's quite rare to find brilliant orange Spessartines from any locality in the world. Ex Brooks Britt Collection
