Spessartine Garnet on Smoky Quartz

These gorgeous Spessartine / Quartz specimens are some of the most attractive and highly displayable pieces to come out in China in the last 20 years. They are instantly recognizable, and have become iconic classics. This is a good quality large miniature / small cabinet sized specimen featuring sharp, gemmy, lustrous, bright orange color, textbook trapezohedral crystals of Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 3 mm which are sitting along the prism faces of a single, sharp, GEMMY, prismatic, hexagonal Smoky Quartz crystal free of matrix. The piece is in good condition, though there is an interrupted growth on the back of the termination of the Smoky, but I can't find any major damage anywhere. I love the fact that the Garnets are brilliant, sharp and smooth - no pitting or dull faces anywhere. Garnet is a well known mineral, but you have to keep in mind that it's quite rare to find brilliant orange Spessartines from any locality in the world, let alone on Quartz crystals like this.
