Spessartine Garnet on Smoky Quartz

These gorgeous specimens are some of the most attractive and highly displayable pieces to come out in China in the last 20 years. This is a good quality small cabinet sized specimen which features dozens of sharp, gemmy, lustrous, bright orange color, textbook trapezohedral crystals (with small dodecahedral modifications) of Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 3 mm which are associated with sharp, prismatic, hexagonal Smoky Quartz crystals measuring up to 5.3 cm on feldspar matrix. The piece is in excellent condition, though one of the lesser Smoky Quartz crystals is contacted, but I can't find any serious damage anywhere. I love the fact that the Garnets are brilliant, sharp and smooth - no pitting or dull faces anywhere. Garnet is a well known mineral, but you have to keep in mind that it's quite rare to find brilliant orange Spessartines from any locality in the world. Valued at $750.
