Item Description
The Wushan Spessartine Garnets are some of the most iconic specimens to come out of China over the last 20 years. The combination of the brilliant gemmy Spessartines associated with starkly contrasting Smoky Quartz and white Microcline make for some eye-catching specimens. This miniature display piece features dozens of fine quality, sharp, very lustrous, gemmy, bright orange colored trapezohedral crystals of Spessartine Garnet measuring up to 3.5 cm sitting on a solitary, sharp, VERY GEMMY, fairly darkly colored Smoky Quartz crystal sitting on cream colored Microcline matrix. My favorite aspect of the piece is the fact that the luster is really high on the Garnets, and they are not pitted or the least bit dull. Excellent quality all around, the only real imperfection I can see is a small bit of interrupted growth on the side of the Smoky Quartz crystal - not damage, just an odd growth pattern. These specimens are becoming less available on the market, and nothing new has been found in a few years. Keep in mind that there are only a few worldwide localities that produce this color of Spessartine in fine specimens.
