Item Description

These Spessartines are some of the most attractive and highly displayable specimens to come out of China. This particular piece features many gemmy, orange red trapezohedra measuring up to 3 mm scattered over a large, sharp, lustrous, good quality single crystal of Smoky Quartz. The color in the Spessartine crystals is very attractive, and they are super lustrous, and not at all pitted. Very good condition all around, and the Quartz is surprisingly lustrous and attractive for the size. This material is becoming less and less available on the market, and keep in mind that there are only a few worldwide localities that produce this color of Spessartine in fine specimens. The beautiful orange hue is caused by a dominance of manganese, as opposed to the dark red Spessartines around the world which get their hue from a strong iron presence. Gem orange Spessartine specimens are NOT easy to find these days from any locality. Originally priced in the inventory at $2000.
