Item Description

Garnet might be fairly common around the world, but they are not often easy to find with respect to specifically brightly colored crystals occurring on matrix, especially with any kind of associations. This particular piece features rather lustrous, gemmy, strong orange color trapezohedra (some of which have minor dodecahedral modifications) measuring up to 5 mm sitting on cream colored Microcline Feldspar matrix with a bit of associated green hexagonal Muscovite "flowers". The color in the Spessartine crystals is very attractive, and they are not at all dull or pitted. No major damage anywhere, just a few tiny imperfections. This material is becoming less and less available on the market, and keep in mind that there are only a few worldwide localities that produce this color of Spessartine in fine specimens. Valued at $600. From a prominent Midwest collection which we acquired over the summer.
