Item Description
Sharp, highly lustrous, spessartine garnets with textbook trapezohedral habit are strikingly and richly scattered and clustered on the sculptural partially euhedral albite crystal matrix covered with an artistic layer of parallel-growth cleavelandite blades and scattered pearlescent muscovite plates. The dramatically set, at the crest, large garnet is 1.6 cm across. The glassy spessartines, are transparent to translucent and the colors range from glorious cherry-red to reddish-orange under bright light. With all of the many spessartines, the piece is essentially pristine. A couple of garnets may be gently contacted, but there is little or no actual damage. Rich, choice and very showy combination material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $850, more than five years ago. It is worth more today.
