Item Description

Single spessartine garnet specimens from Shengus very seldom display the fine aesthetics and drama of this thumbnail piece. A 1.3 cm, textbook elongated trapezohedron is elegantly perched atop a blocky albite crystal monolith. The crystal looks dark wine-red under low-light conditions, but GLOWS under bright light. When backlit, the gemmy crystal has riveting cherry-red to firey red-orange hues. The spessartine is complete all-around and pristine. This would make a fine matched thumbnail pair with the spessartine on muscovite offered earlier in this auction. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this cutie at $200, five or more years ago.
