Item Description
An isolated, very lustrous, sharp, rich red color, gemmy, heavily striated dodecahedral crystal of Spessartine measuring 1.2 cm across is sitting smartly on a matrix of crystallized and partially etched blocky Albite. The Spessartine crystal is undamaged and looks fantastic with backlighting as the color really comes through. Minor black prisms of Schorl and a few minor spots of orange-red Spessartine can be seen on various spots on the piece. For Garnet collectors, this is an attractive Fe-rich Spessartine, and the pieces from Shengus are among the best red Spessartines in the world, especially from any contemporary locale. Valued at $600.
