Item Description

The famous Wushan Spessartine Mine in China has produced some of the most iconic specimens of Spessartine Garnet, often associated with Smoky Quartz. Occasionally you will find some of the Smoky Quartz crystals, which features Spessartine crystal inclusions frozen inside. This stone is one of the very rare example that I've seen where some intrepid gem cutter decided to take one of these Smoky Quartz crystals, and turn it into a really cool gemstone! This "Pear Cabochon" cut stone has a gentle smoky hue, and when it's backlit, you'll see there are a several textbook dodecahedral crystals of reddish-orange Spessartine that are suspended within. Quartz is arguably the most "inclusion friendly" gem in the world, featuring a myriad of other mineral species, and this stone is a fantastic example of the said material. If you collect gems with crystal inclusions, Quartz/Garnet or gemstones from China, don't pass this one up.
