Item Description
This piece came with a note that it was from the Queen Mine in Pala. With that said, I don't know if I've seen a piece of Spessartine from this famous locality. The piece is a single crystal of Spessartine Garnet with sharp, lustrous dodecahedral and trapezohedral faces that shows a deep orange color when backlit. In reflected light, the color is darker, but it glows with color when backlit. The front side of the crystal is in good shape and well-crystallized, but the back is not complete. A cool Garnet thumbnail that would make a great addition to a collection of US or California minerals, or assorted pegmatite minerals. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown. Valued at $550.
