Item Description
A striking and aesthetic, large spessartine garnet and smoky quartz specimen from recent Chinese finds. A 4.8 cm partially enveloped, smoky quartz obelisk proudly dominates the large undulating plate of feldspar covered with gemmy, cinnamon-orange spessartine garnets. Scattered smokies are a fine compliment. The translucent smokies are lightly frosted. The back of the obelisk is contacted, but has no damage, per se and is out of sight in the preferred display view. A bit bruising is noted to the spessartine field and to the periphery, behind the tall smoky, but is certainly a modest detraction. The sides and base have been expertly prepared to the enhance the display view.
