Item Description
A dramatic and uncommon large combination plate from recent finds at Tongbei. The randomly angled smoky quartz crystals and crystal density are way above average for the locality and adds much panache. The glassy, water-clear to translucent smokies, to 4.8 cm, are lightly etched. The gemmy and lustrous, burnt-orange, spessartines partially sheath the smokies and cover the matrix. All of the many interior smokies are pristine. A couple of broken crystals are noted on the periphery wear, but are certainly a minimal detraction to this very fine large combination piece. The base has been sawed to enhance the display. Valued at $750-900.
