Spessartine Garnet and Smoky Quartz

Item Description

A dramatic and uncommon combination plate from recent finds at Tongbei. The smoky quartz crystal density is way above average for the locality. The glassy, translucent smokies, to 3.5 cm, have lightly frosted side faces and mirror-bright termination faces. The gemmy and lustrous, burnt-orange, spessartines partially sheath the smokies and cover the matrix. A trivial bit of very scattered termination edgewear and modest periphery wear (mostly on the back) are noted and are certainly minimal detractions to this very fine piece.
