A very aesthetic spessartine garnet and smoky quartz combination specimen from recent Chinese finds. A striking field of gemmy and lustrous, burnt-orange, spessartines rests on starkly contrasting feldspar matrix. In fact, part of the spessartine field pseudomorphs a sharp, large, 2.7 cm, blocky, feldspar crystal! A 4.9 cm, glassy, translucent, smoky quartz crystal is jauntily set on the back of the piece. The smoky is doubly terminated and is pristine. Definitely, one of the niftier spessartine/smoky quartz combos from Tongbei we have offered at auction.
