Spessartine Garnet

Item Description

A great quality crystallized group of very sharp, rather lustrous, rich orange-red colored trapezohedral crystals of Spessartine on Smoky Quartz from Putian Prefecture, Fujian Province, China. The largest crystal measures 8 mm across, and they are so smooth and sharp, and not at all pitted or dull like many from China. The piece is in great shape overall, with only minor edge wear around the periphery. There are not many places in the world today that produce good quality orange Garnets, and to have a near cabinet sized display specimen with fine quality crystals like this is rare.
