Item Description
The recent discovery of these highly etched but completely terminated spessartine garnets created quite a splash, and you can see why. The sculptural aesthetics, luster and clarity are superb, which are complemented by the lovely wine-red color. It is safe to say these have become very sought-after, and this is an excellent example of this recent find. It is even better in person, more complex than photos can bring out. The stepped patterns on this particular piece are amazing! They do hide a very minor bit of edge wear here and there, though. The backlit photos really highlight the beautiful wine-red color saturation and gemmyness. This fine piece can be displayed in nearly any orientation. This large crystal has a few contacts, but they all appear to be damage-free. A very high quality and larger than most spessartine from this find. 203 grams.
