Item Description

Striking stepped-growth faces highlight this RARE style parallel-growth TABULAR miniature spessartine garnet crystal from Shengus. The lustrous spessartine is deep wine-red with orange highlights under normal light, but GLOWS with cherry-red and orange-red color, when backlit. The stepped-growth is just like spessartines from the recent finds at the Navegadora Mine in Brazil. Most Shengus spessartines are trapezohedrons. Tabular stepped-growth spesartines are RARE. Ex Bill Larson & his company's Pala International Garnet Collection with engraved label, which was long on the display at the Fallbrook store in the San Diego area for decades before we bought it some years ago (found it hiding in storage!).
