Item Description
A sharp, well-formed, rich orange colored, translucent dodecahedron of Spessartine from a locality called "Nacle" according to the label. I can't find a listing for this locality, and it's possible that the piece came from Naque, 35 km northeast of Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The piece shows good crystal faces all the way around with a small contact on the base. These orange Spessartines are rare from Brazil, and certainly worth picking up as they date back a few decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10152). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
