Item Description

A rare, showy and excellent combination from famed Broken Hill. Four, sharp, pristine, spessartine garnet dodecahedrons, to 2.5 cm, are aesthetically set in the granular calcite matrix with many more spessartine sections and a bit of galena. The lustrous garnets are mottled dark wine-red with nifty areas of cherry-red translucence. The rare combination is the 2.5 cm section of a translucent, orangy-brown, bustamite blade embedded on another side of the piece. A classic, fine and rare combination specimen from the Bob Trimingham Collection, purchased in 1972 and collected in about 1960, according to Bob's label. Bright orange SW and moderate orange LW calcite fluoresence.
