Garnets are beloved for their wide range of colors. Garnet is typically recognized as a red gem, but this stone has much more of an orange hue. This "Checkerboard Cushion" cut Spessartine has great, saturated red orange color and with very very slight inclusions. The orange color is a indication of a higher ratio of Manganese in the stone as opposed to the deep red material which has more Iron.
