Item Description
When these specimens first started emerging from Pakistan, they were (and still are) regarded as some of the finest crystallized Spessartine specimens in the world. They are for my money, the finest red Spessartines available today. This is a pretty thumbnail, which consists of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, rich orange red color ?textbook? trapezohedra of Spessatine creating a lovely "cluster". The largest Spessartine crystal measures 1.0 cm across. These specimens are becoming less and less available on the market, certainly within the last 5 years. Considering how widespread and diverse the various species of Garnet are, it is surprisingly difficult to find good quality crystallized display specimens like this one. Garnets as a whole are not very common to find in fine quality crystals, especially with gemmy crystals. Please note that the photo showing the backlighting was done with a pretty strong flashlight, but the color is there when you light it up.
