Item Description
A striking and very showy plate from the famous Florence Mine. Scintillating, silvery-black metallic plates of specularite hematite cover the sculptural, mitten-shaped matrix of massive hematite kidney ore. Classic material recovered prior to 1968 mining operations in the 6th West Orebody by miners Joe Grundie and Ernie Schwartzer. Ex Ralph Sutcliffe Collection, noted English collector and dealer.
