Item Description

A beautiful oval cabochon of Hackmanite (a variety of Sodalite) from the Pyant Gyi Mine in Myanmar. The color is best described as light silvery blue-lilac tone. The stone does show a slight shift in colors from blue to more of a lilac overtone, depending upon the temperature of the light in which it's viewed. Under short wave ultraviolet light, the stone fluoresces a nice pink hue, but under long wave ultraviolet let, it GLOWS with a brilliant orange color! The gem is tenebrescent which means after it is exposed to UV light, it will turn a darker purple color, but then will return to its original silvery-lilac hue after being exposed to prolonged daylight. This process is 100% repeatable and in no way hurts the stone. From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens and stones from Myanmar (Burma).
