Item Description
Hackmanite is the sodium-rich variety of sodalite and is very rare world-wide. This excellent combination specimen features a sharp, large, 2.7 x 2.5 cm, glassy and translucent, lavender, hackmanite crystal jauntily set in more hackmanite and glassy, lustrous, light brown winchite. Winchite is an uncommon amphibole group mineral. The hackmanite is a more intense royal purple in daylight and has super neon-orange fluorescence and also has sulfur-yellow phosphorescence. The winchite fluoresces dark purple. Fine and showy combination material from the Koksha Valley of Afghanistan. From the dealer stock of Herb Obodda, who brought most of this material out in the early days of its production. Valued $1350-1450 for size and form of the crystal (usually they are not as sharp and lustrous)
