Item Description
Dr. Woodside accumulated a large study collection of all the different colors and sizes of "sodalite" or "lapis" from these historic, biblical era deposits in Afghanistan, for study. This was analysed and found to be the sodalite end-member of the series of related species, even though they look like little lapis crystals. One cannot go visually by ID on these kinds of crystals, and he checked them all with xray. It is a rich plate with stunning color and a high saturation that makes it look like the most intense lapis - but is, instead, a colorful sodalite!
