Snowflake Cerussite (classic Arizona)

Classic old-time small cabinet of solid, cyclically-twinned and reticulated, "snowflake" cerussite blades from the famous Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine at Tiger. The "bridge girder" architecture of the blades on this piece are striking. The oxide coating on one side adds contrast and charcter. Good Tiger cerussites of this richness and quality are not that common. Tiger specimens of any species are among the most desirable of any Arizona locality. A bit of minor bruising and contacting are certainly acceptable in the context of this piece. The mine closed in 1953. See the 1980 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 11, No. 3. This is an excellent two-sided example of the species and noted locale. it is large, and in good shape overall. It has great shape. Altogether, it is better than anything you could normally find at a show from this location and is a true old classic in good size. Valued $2000-2500
