Item Description
From a discovery in 2021, these attractive Snow Agate gems were a pleasant surprise. They are essentially translucent, nearly colorless (slightly "smoky" colored) Agate with white opaque inclusions that look like falling snow has been frozen inside the gem. Now we're calling these stones Agate because that's how they were sold to us, but they could be classified as Chalcedony, or one of the other terms for cryptocrystalline Quartz. This gem is a wonderful example of this material as it's a large and eye-catching stone with a "Pear Cabochon" cut. The stone looks beautiful in both reflected and transmitted light. A wonderful gem of this new and interesting material.
