A 1.7 cm tourmaline crystal section is dramatically enclosed in the sharp termination of the gem smoky quartz crystal. The limpid very glassy hexagonal crystal has fine light smoky color and few interior veils. Striking stepped-growth prism faces, preferential glass-clear and frosted termination and prism faces plus the bizarre secondary overgrowth of milky quartz on one face add even more character to exceptional large 360-degree piece. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A trivial bit of edge chatter, an out-of-sight termination edge ding in the primary display view and an out-of-sight contact lower on a back prism face, where another crystal once lay, with no damage, per se are certainly only very minimal detractions.
