Item Description

A rare locality matrix specimen of unusual aesthetics! Slender, translucent tourmalines are rare for the Little 3 Mine. Emplaced on matrix along with bladed white albite, are two lustrous and translucent crystals of light smoky quartz, to 7.5 cm in length. Nearly horizontal between the two quartz crystals is a doubly terminated, flattened crystal of lustrous and translucent, olive-green elbaite, measuring 4.7 cm. It has a sharp termination on the upright end, and a buried termination (but you can se eit was fully formed) on the lower end. The contrasts are both dimensional and in color, on this nice matrix. The quartzes are complete all around except for a few dings on the smoky quartz tips (not unusual for this locality) and some minor damage on the backside that, while present, does not affect the 3-D display quality of the specimen. This is a very nice combo specimen for the locality, and the centrally perched tourmaline, nesting there in the albite between the two quartzes, is highly unusual and is your focal point in person. Valued $1500.
