Smoky Quartz with Microcline on Albite

A gorgeous large cabinet display specimen of these famous specimens from this well-known pegmatite deposit. The piece hosts a handful of very sharp, highly lustrous, richly colored prismatic Smoky Quartz crystals measuring up to 4.3 cm long which are sitting on a bed of semi-bladed white Albite (var: Cleavelandite) and assocaited with pinkish, blocky, sharp, well-formed Microcline crystals measuring up to 2.5 cm long. It's very difficult to find pieces of this size and quality with such distinctive crystals which are isolated and not "jumbled". One of the Smoky Quartz crystals on the back of the main group is contacted, so the piece isn't completely damage free, but it's darned close, and really displays well as you can see from the photos. The Smokies have a really rich saturated color, darker than most I've seen from the locality. For a simple Quartz and Feldspar combo piece, this one is really showy and eye-catching. You just don't see many of these on the market, especially in large cabinet sized display specimens. Priced at $2,000 in the inventory.
