Item Description
What an impressive and fine quality specimen for any fan of Quartz crystals or minerals of California. This is honestly the FIRST example of this material that I can remember seeing. A thick, GEMMY, richly colored Smoky Quartz prism of almost Alpine quality is included with several thin, pistachio green colored prismatic Epidote crystals from an undisclosed locality in the Inyo Mountains of California. You can best see the Epidote crystals with some strong backlighting, and tiny amount of them are actually poking through the exterior of the Quartz. The piece is in great shape all around, no damage, except for the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. Valued at $1,400 in our inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
