Stunning, supremely glassy, gemmy, smoky quartz crystals have rich color, darker terminations and fabulous stepped-growth faces. The smokies, to 4.5 cm, are very aesthetically set on the large feldspar matrix and are striking accented with a scattering of gem, cinnamon-orange spessartines to 5 mm. The smokies in the cluster are pristine and the large smoky on the end has a barely noticeable lightly dinged back tip. This very fine two-sided piece displays well without aid. The periphery wear on the primary viewing side has very minimal impact to the overall outstanding quality of this piece. These are probably the finest, glassy Tongbei smokies we have offered at auction.
