An impressive large sharp euhedral smoky quartz crystal accented with a bit of microcline matrix. The striking skewed termination and stepped-growth prism faces complement the rich smoky color, luster and glassiness. This is an unusually high-quality, large California smoky quartz crystal - in fact, quite "Swiss" in appearance. Backlighting dramatically highlights the limpid termination and translucent, cloudy lower portion of the prism. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. An out-of-sight back prism face is partially contacted, where another crystal once lay, but there is no damage, per se. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. A very fine and classic large California smoky quartz crystal.
