Brilliant, water-clear, smoky quartz prisms form a very impressive and aesthetic large plate from the well-known Smoky Bear area of New Mexico. The random orientation of the smokies really adds panache to this very fine piece and the beautiful large smoky is 6.3 cm. A striking and rare accessory are the colloform fluorite clusters attached to some of the smoky tips and on the plate itself. Dense plates of this quality are very uncommon from here. Collecting is difficult with the hard bedrock and there is only one lightly dinged tip to a larger crystal on the back of the plate. Choice material valued at $600.
