Smoky Quartz (unusual color zoning)

A interesting and unusual specimen of crystallized Smoky Quartz from the Santa Teresa Mountains of Arizona. This piece features a sharp, very well-formed, euhedral, lustrous, smoky-grey colored hexagonal prism of Smoky Quartz sitting on a bit of beige Feldspar matrix. If you look closely, you'll notice that there is a bit of a darker color zoning on the exterior pyramidal faces of the termination, almost what I would call a "phantom" zoning, but not quite. It's unusual and different from anything I've seen from Arizona. One of the pyramidal faces has a tiny bit of "Fenster" or "window" faces starting to develop, but they are very slight. I've only had a few of these to offer over the years, and this piece is certainly one of the best examples of this desirable material. Good quality all around, with only a few small imperfections, but overall very good in terms of damage.
