Item Description
An impressive, limpid smoky quartz crystal from Governador Valadares. The sharply terminated, very glassy and lustrous crystal has rich smoky color. You can easily see through the crystal to the second generation glassy colorless quartz crystals embedded on the back side. Complete all-around and in great shape. A small ding on the tip and the basal contacting, where other crystals once lay, but with only limited bruising, are noted and are certainly only modest detractions to this striking 360-degree large smoky. Smoky quartz of this size, quality and form is rare from Governador Valadares. Most Minas Gerais specimens are from Diamantina, Divino das Laranjeiras or an unknown locality. This striking, gemmy and sculptural large smoky quartz specimen is from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 161.
